The problem was not that God had failed to make Himself known..it was that once the immediate crisis passed, obedience became negotiable again. (And isn’t that a Word 👀..)\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBy the time we reach Samson, even the deliverer begins to look like the nation he was sent to rescue. He was called, gifted, and set apart, but still ruled by appetite and convinced he could keep crossing boundaries without eventually becoming enslaved by them.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eJudges does not leave me admiring human strength. It leaves me questioning how often we ask God to remove the consequences of choices we have no intention of surrendering. “In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as they saw fit” (Judges 21:25).\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eSimilar to the Book of Acts, Judges ends unresolved because another temporary judge was never going to be enough. They needed a King who could change more than their circumstances.
