The short answer is that Scripture is not anti-sex. Scripture treats the body as holy, covenant as sacred, and desire as something that needs truth to govern it. Biblically, sex is not treated as casual chemistry, but it is a physical seal of covenant commitment; a physical act with spiritual consequences. Lust promises intimacy, freedom, and relief, but when those things are separated from covenant, they usually leave confusion, shame, and bondage instead.
In Matthew 5:28, Jesus says, “anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” The key to this verse is what is meant by committing sin “in your heart.” In other words, sexual sin begins long before the body ever acts. It starts in the eyes, the imagination, and the heart when desire is allowed to govern truth. Similarly, in the Old Testament, we see many of God’s chosen people struggle with lust and sexual immorality, and the pattern is almost always the same: sin offers what it cannot actually give, then leaves consequences it never advertised.
That is why the Bible tells us to “flee from sexual immorality.” Not because God is against pleasure, but because He designed pleasure to be protected by love, covenant, and holiness. I say this not to judge or condemn anyone, but because truth is still loving even when it is uncomfortable.
The good news is that Christ does not just forgive what sin touched. He restores what sin tried to steal. He forgives, heals, and redeems. Trust the Holy Spirit to lead you in all things, use discernment, and protect your heart at all costs. Everything you do flows from it. (Prov. 4:23)
