DID YOU KNOW? | Donkey's Cross Facts
My favorite part of studying the Bible is when its truth shows up in the smallest details of creation.
Most donkeys naturally have a dark stripe running down their back and another across their shoulders, forming what many people call the “cross of the donkey.” The Bible never says why it’s there. It simply exists.
What’s harder to ignore is how often God uses the donkey throughout Scripture. Balaam’s donkey saw what the prophet couldn’t. Every firstborn donkey was to be redeemed by the sacrifice of a lamb (Exodus 13:13). And when Jesus presented Himself as Israel’s King, He didn’t ride a war horse. He chose a humble donkey. I don’t think that’s an accident.
The more I study the Bible, the more I find that God leaves fingerprints everywhere. Scripture doesn’t need creation to prove it. But sometimes creation quietly points right back to Scripture.
“See, your king comes to you… lowly and riding on a donkey.” — Zechariah 9:9
